Innovas has been appointed by the Leicester & Leicestershire Local Enterprise Partnership (LLEP) to develop a Low Carbon Sector Growth Plan to enhance the competitiveness of the low carbon sector in the LLEP area.
The plan will identify priorities for the use of European Structural funds, the Local Growth Fund and Regional Growth Fund programmes and provide an evidence base to support future funding bids. It will also inform local businesses of the key issues, barriers and constraints within the low carbon sector and set out solutions to enable them to address them, both independently of the public sector and via support of the LLEP and its partners where appropriate.
The work will involve identifying the key market and technological drivers that are influencing the sector, analysing existing research, datasets and strategies and carrying out an in-depth survey of low carbon businesses in the LLEP area to provide an assessment of the importance of the low carbon economy across the LLEP area and respective sector strengths.
The outcome of the work will be an action plan containing a series of detailed project briefs that will assist businesses in the low carbon sector in Leicester/Leicestershire to maximise their growth potential and which in turn will generate benefits to the wider LLEP economy.
The commission adds to Innovas’ extensive portfolio of work in the low carbon and environmental goods & services sectors.
Other recent assignments include a mapping study of the energy and environment sector in Wales for Welsh Government, drafting the London “Green Means Business” report on green entrepreneurship for the London Sustainable Development Commission and carrying out an analysis of the competitiveness of businesses in the water supply & waste water treatment and low carbon heating & cooling sectors in Scotland for Scottish Enterprise.
