These project examples represent a small sample of the work of Team Innovas.
The NHS Leadership Academy was established in April 2012 and spearheads the development of leadership across the NHS.
Innovas consultants were selected to be part of this faculty to design, develop and deliver the programmes of the future including Nye Bevan, Top Leaders, and Frontline, Mary Seacole, Rosalind Franklin and many customised programmes and interventions.
Mid-Management Leadership Development Programme: Innovas co-designed, delivered and evaluated the overall programme across the Northwest working with 80 managers over a 6 month period.
Designed and delivered workshops to apprenticeship providers on strategic planning, evaluation, leadership & management, sales strategy and digital & offline marketing.
On behalf of the NHS NW Leadership Academy, These Development Centres were built around a simulated health economy and use the Thomas Kilman Conflict Mode instrument (TKI) as a basis for the group development, and combines the need for a combination of facilitation and ‘teaching’ skills to be incorporated.
Innovas has also worked closely with the boards of major public sector organisations from across the UK. The role of Innovas has included the facilitation of the development of strategies and policy, development of consensus based action plans, and one-two-one development. Clients have included: NHS, Higher Education Funding Council of Wales, Leeds City Growth, Nottingham City Council, Derby City Council, Leicester MBC, Northwest Development Agency, and BIS.
Innovas has worked with hundreds of SMEs since 2006 both via publicly funded programmes and directly with individual companies.
Design, development and delivery the of Switched On; series of workshops – on Business Planning, Marketing, and Sales to growing companies from the Low Carbon Sector
Working with Enterprising Barnsley to support start-up and young businesses with marketing and digital projects delivering workshops to groups of business people and individual consultancy, depending on the needs of the business.
Delivered a bespoke programme for managers and owners of SMEs across Greater Manchester focusing on the leadership and management of fast growing business, leading teams in growth companies, and self-management.
Delivered workshops throughout the North of England for the GrowthAccelerator service, with coaching to many business owners and directors during the programme, specialising in strategy, sales & marketing, leadership & management, process improvement and change management, particularly with SMEs targeting business-to-business markets.
Delivered support to SMEs across the Cheshire and Warrington Growth area to start and grow their businesses through a combination of workshops and 1-to-1 coaching. Additionally Innovas supported in the delivery of the SMART Cheshire Innovation programme supporting companies to develop and launch new products and services through its 8Launch Programme.
Since 2009 Innovas has also been working with NHS North West Leadership Academy (NHS NWLA) in the support, delivery and evaluation of various interventions/programmes.
This evaluation is ongoing having started in November 2019 and is due to finish late in 2020. It focuses on the first two pioneering cohorts one was an open one, the other focused on a speciality i.e. GP Nurses. It includes using several online surveys, focus groups, and face-to-face and telephone interviews. As well producing an impact assessment it is also producing a series of case studies.
This evaluation started in October 2018 and is to run into late 2020. It includes the use of online surveys, focus groups and data gathering and analysis to provide evidence of impact of the ShinyMind APP developed and delivered by Shiny Mind
This is a system leaders programme for Cheshire & Merseyside Health and Care Partnership based on Marmot principles to enable local change agents to deliver the ‘can do’ approach to system leadership. The evaluation combines online surveys, telephone and face-2-face interviews and case study ddevelopment
These evaluations started in October 2017 and will finish in mid 2020. It covers 20 teams from STPs across England. This involves a mixed approach of online surveys, interviews and written evidence reviews.
This evaluation assessed the impact of this programme on participants reaching back to 2014 and included an online survey, interviews and case studies.
This evaluation ran from January 2018 – February 2019 and assessed the impact of this programme across 6 cohorts.
This was a summative evaluation of this programme which had the vision to activate community citizenship – the empowering, enablement and engagement of communities to mobilise as assets to the health and care system in actively driving their own health and wellbeing and public health.
Innovas worked with the Academy from 2012 assessing the impact of these programmes working with 6 cohorts over these years. The 2016 Impact Assessment first used the national evaluation framework from the national NHS Leadership Academy.
Innovas carried out a review of a pilot Leadership Programme for Clinicians across the NHS in the Northwest of England using the Kirkpatrick approach. This study started in 2009 and concluded late in 2011. This review was used to inform future leadership programme developments in the NHS.
The purpose of the research is to help the Academy understand why its development programmes attract low numbers of participants from those working in Bands 1 to 4 across the NHS, and to help the Academy shape and position its future offer to increase participant numbers. The research has included a survey across the Northwest region of staff in over 20 institutions gaining 1900 responses, focus groups and discussions in stage one. Stage Two is being rolled out across the remaining 6 regions within England later in 2020 to further test and validate the initial results and recommendations
Innovas carried out a strategic review of commissioning including a full review of the contract compendium and assessment of the impact of the Strategic Operational Plan on future commissioning and providers.
This was a pilot programme for public sector Chief Executives from across Wales and Innovas worked closely with all the participants, the Welsh Government and Cardiff University in the review and evaluation of this programme and the development of it for the future.
Innovas carried out research across North Wales into the future skills requirements for Nuclear and the capacity for the provision of skilled labour and education/training services from secondary through to HE to support it over the next 10 years. This was been finalised into a forward Business Plan to support this critical sector.
