Innovas Consulting has been appointed by Lancaster University, working on behalf of the Enterprise Educators UK network of UK universities, to develop a best a best-practice toolkit for enterprise educators to draw on when designing and developing student-facing enterprise and innovation activities.
The toolkit will provide guidance on how educators can maximise the strategic impact they can deliver for their institutions, support graduate employability and evidence their value to the university core mission.
The motivation for the work came from research that identified a need to improve the consistency of reporting of student-related enterprise and innovation to show their contributions towards achievement of institutional KPIs. This toolkit will inform the ongoing design of these activities and is intended to be applicable for use by member institutions.
The work will be informed by a review of the enterprise support ecosystem (covering both curricular and extra-curricular activity) at Lancaster University, evidence from staff and students and discussions with enterprise leads at other institutions.
The work adds to Innovas’ extensive track record in evaluation and in working with and advising universities. Other recent assignments include an evaluation of EMIN Enterprise’s Partnerships in Knowledge Transfer scheme, delivered by three East Midlands universities, an evaluation of the University of Derby’s Let’s do Business SME and enterprise support scheme and an evaluation of the University of Bedfordshire’s Innovation Bridge scheme.
